Full Details:
At Gelli Aur, 60 acres of wooded parkland surround a magnificent mansion (not currently open to the public) with commanding views across the Vale of Tywi. There’s a 20-acre deer park, terrace gardens, visitor centre and cafe, exhibitions and displays. Nature trails explore woodland, parkland, ponds and meadow.
Breeding birds include pied flycatchers, chiff chaffs and blue tits. The 10-acre arboretum with mature trees and shrubs was planted in the 1860’s by the Cawdor family’s head gardener, William Hill. There are frequent special events and craft demonstrations and guided walks are available throughout the year. Local bus service 279 (tel 01267 231 817) for further details.
