As Aberglasney emerges in all its glory from centuries of neglect, it has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting garden restoration projects. Aberglasney gardens have received extensive coverage in the media, both for their horticultural quality, particularly the extensive range of rare and unusual plants, and for their mysterious history which can be traced back over many centuries.

The ten acres of the Aberglasney gardens contain six different spaces including three walled gardens. At their heart of Aberglasney is an Elizabethan/Jacobean cloister and parapet walk, now fully restored and an unique reminder of garden architecture previously known only from the history books.

New for the Aberglasney gardens in 2005 is the “Ninfarium”, a unique Atrium filled with exotic perfumed plants. Set within the cloisters is the restored Cloister Garden, based on the extensive archaeological survey carried out during 1999 which uncovered features dating back to the 16th century. The investigations also took the possible age of the site back to the 13th century with the discovery of a silver Long Cross Penny from the reign of Edward I.

As Aberglasney’s house and gardens are improved over the years, the result is a world class and world-renowned garden set within the broader landscape of the beautiful Vale of Tywiwith the most recent addition being a ‘Ninfarium’ a glass atrium based on the gardens of Ninfa near Rome. A cafe in the grounds serves delicious light lunches and snacks and, in the summer, tea on the terrace overlooking the Pool Garden. There is also an excellent shop and plant sales area at Aberglasney
