As Aberglasney emerges in all its glory from centuries of neglect, it has earned a well deserved reputation one of the UK's most remarkable gardens. The gardens have received extensive coverage in the media, but for their historic importance and their horticultural quality, particularly the extensive range of rare and unusual plants which are of interest throughout the year. new para. The ten acres of garden include three walled gardens; at the heart of the garden is the Elizabethan / Jacobean cloister and parapet walk, which is now fully restored, and a unique reminder of architecture only previously known in history books. Set within the cloisters is the Cloister Garden, which is based on an extenxive archaeological survey undertaken in 1999. The investigation took the possible age of the site back to the 13th C with the discovery of a silver Long Cross Penny dating to the reign of Edward I. new para. The most recent addition to the garden is the award winning 'Ninfarium' a garden based on the gardens of Ninfa near Rome. It is a unique indoor garden built within the central ruins of the mansion and is filled with a wide variety of exotic plants. new para. In the garden there is a shop and plant sales area and a cafe that serves delicious lunches and snacks which during the summer can be eat on the terrace overlooking the pool.
