Encompassing over 1,000 acres, Margam Country Park offers the opportunity to explore a fascinating variety of historic gardens, to trace a past which stretches from the Iron Age to the Victorian era and to get close to nature.

Margam is packed with surprises. At its heart is the extraordinary Tudor-gothic Victorian castle and the magnificent 18th century Orangery which is the longest in Europe. In the formal gardens the remains of a 12th century monastic Chapter House can be seen. The fine walled deer park contains the best collection of deer in Wales and offers splendid walks from the castle courtyard.

The gardens are being restored and offer a horticultural history from Tudor times to the present day. The Orangery gardens are notable for an impressive collection of trees and shrubs.

There are plenty of places to picnic and food is also available at Charlotte’s Pantry. Children will enjoy the narrow gauge railway, the Adventure Playground and the delightful Fairytale Land, while the park also has a farm trail and a pets corner.
